Imagination ‘ Window

Outside the window, with its latticed woodwork and stained glass, a phoenix strives to get in, while inside, the lantern, the three boteh (bent cypress) motifs painted on the wall, and the pair of slippers on the floor create an air of mystery and expecta- tion. This is one of Rassam’s more imaginative works  bordering on the surreal .
