Sultan Mahmoud’s Triumphal Entrance into Sumanat

A painting reproduced in a World War II Persian language magazine, the Sheipur ( the Clarion), that was printed by the Allied Forces, inspired the youthful Rassam to design this rug, that commemorates Sultan Mahmoud’s triumphal entrance into the city of Sumanat in India several centuries earlier. This rug is important because it marks the beginning of Master Arabzadeh’s entry into the field of carpet design.
