The Girl from Qasem- abad Carpet Panel

The rug more than resembles a painting of the photo-realist school.

The subject is a beauty from the village of Qasem – Abad in the Caspian littoral north of  Iran.

Master Arabzadeh has drawn on some 380 different days to bring about the subtleties and the vividness of the colours that abound in the scene.

And to further enhance the illusion of our looking at a picture he has turned the borders into an elaborate frame.
