A Mirror to the universe Carpet Panel

Created by Rasam Arabzadeh

Originally designed to be dedicated to the united nation though fade decided otherwise- this elaborated work of art reflects the humanistic, non materialistic views of the designer founded on the Sadi’s famous philanthropic poem of which the first hemstitch is woven into the top right side of rug.

Underneath the poem, pouring off the finger tips of the white and the colored hands, is the red blood emphasizing the oneness and equality of all human beings- atestimoney to the truth of Sadi’s words.

As a thoroughly contemplative effort the work pictures the real world of today vis-à-vis with the ideal, somewhat utopian world of the artist. The dark- colored eagle on top, spreading its wings over the whole world symbolizes the today exploitative powers- as the evil side of the human beings- nourishing on the more powerless nations.

While the eagle implies privation, starvation and annihilation, the music instruments and the spiritual being that stand for the mystical East, together with the birds and flowers, suggest the original happy, pure and free nature of the humans; hence Arabzadeh’s optimism the presence of the phoenix, symbolizing truth and knowledge, is yet another optimistic emphasis on the ultimate triumph of good over evil.
